Behind the rich textures of the songs of Aléatoire – the electronic project of the Montreal producer Charles-Alain Roy – lies a universe overflowing with creativity and without discrimination between musical genres. With his albums Failles dorsales (2012), Pavillon (2014) and Mémorial (2021), the Montreal composer, producer and musician has demonstrated the extent of his inventiveness and the richness of his inspirations, which range from punk to rap, including experimental music, jazz, shoegaze or even noise. No wonder that all his tracks are such an original cocktail. He was first a guitarist in various rock groups, Roy undertook a self-taught journey in electronic music guided by research and experimentation. Playing several instruments himself, he is passionate about sampling and sound effects, always looking for warm, organic and deep sounds. His single, Headrush, has received more than 2 million streams across platforms and several placements in Netflix series.
His latest album released in 2021 allows him to obtain the attention of several media including Radio-Canada and the Canal Auditif and numerous prestigious playlists such as Indie franco/Nouveauté Franco from Apple Music and Montréal chill/Nouveauté Franco from Spotify.
